Vikrant Massey faced rejection in the auditions for the film “Lootera.” At a time when he was seeking better opportunities in films, actors from television were not taken seriously for films. Vikrant Massey, who was a big name on TV, used to earn ₹35 lakhs per month from a serial. However, to build a career in films, he turned down a ₹35 lakh offer from TV.

The Journey from TV to Films

The first major opportunity in films came to Vikrant Massey through director Vikramaditya Motwane’s movie “Lootera.” In a recent interview, Vikrant Massey said, “At that time, my TV show ‘Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo’ had just ended. I was thinking whether to pick a new show or do this film. Casting director Atul Mongia called me for the ‘Lootera’ audition.”

Challenges Faced in the Film Industry

Vikrant Massey noted, “It was my first audition for a film, but I was rejected. However, the actor who was supposed to play that character backed out from the shoot just two weeks before, and I was called in. It was destiny. I consider myself fortunate to have got the opportunity to work with good directors in films continuously.”

Vikrant Massey faced financial challenges while transitioning from TV to films. He mentioned, “Actors from TV are often looked down upon by the film industry. Film people think that TV actors just have good bodies and that’s it. Proving myself was a challenge. My mantra was to do every film role with complete honesty.”
